MATERIALS ENGINEER FOR LABORATORY - METALOGRAPHY AND FAILURE ANALYSIS (F/M/X)

Position Objective:

Would you like to contribute to solving complex issues in critical aerospace components through advanced materials characterization and analysis techniques?

At ITP Aero, we are looking to add a new member to the R&D Materials and Processes Laboratory team to participate in materials characterization, metallographic evaluation, and failure analysis activities for aerospace components. You will be part of a highly specialized environment, collaborating with different areas of the company and acting as a technical interface with internal and external customers to define work scopes, present results, and provide solutions based on materials and process expertise.

 

Your main responsibilites

  • Perform metallography, materials characterization, and failure analysis activities, identifying damage mechanisms and determining the root causes of failures in aerospace components (RCA).
  • Manage the subcontracting of testing and analysis services to external laboratories, including defining the technical scope, monitoring activities, and reviewing results.
  • Prepare technical reports and present results and conclusions.
  • Collaborate with different areas of ITP Aero in solving materials and process-related issues.
  • Define and coordinate activities with internal and external customers.
  • Draft procedures and manage documentation associated with laboratory activities.
  • Participate in quality activities, internal and external audits (NADCAP), safety, maintenance, calibration, and laboratory management tasks.

 

Who We Are Looking For:

Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.

 

Experiencia y conocimientos necesarios:

  • Knowledge of metallography.
  • Experience in materials characterization and failure analysis using optical and electron microscopy (SEM and EDS).
  • Ability to identify damage mechanisms and perform root cause analysis.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders.
  • Customer-oriented mindset and ability to present technical results clearly and effectively.

 

Idiomas:

  • English proficiency at C1 level.
  • Spanish proficiency at C1 level

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD.
  • Experience in industrial laboratories and knowledge of their day-to-day management processes.
  • Experience with other advanced characterization techniques, such as EBSD.
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials, heat treatments, and mechanical testing.
